A rocking kettle to allow Residents to safely make themselves a cup of tea or coffee from the Coffee Station in each Lodge. This kettle allows them to rock the kettle rather than lift it making it safer for those residents with arthritis and when working with boiling water.

The Main Entrance to Eventide Home (off North Street) is difficult to wayfind for relatives and visitors. The signage is very small on the fence and often obstructed by parked cars. Visitors to the facility often get lost due to the various entrances to the units and a larger signage to assist with wayfinding would assist navigate the entrance to the facility that sits on a large corner block of land.

All resident rooms and communal areas require replacement widow dressings. Current curtains have aged significantly and are difficult to clean regularly to meet infection control standards. Replacing exisitng curtains with roller blinds that are impervious and cleanable while also be asthetically pleasing would both modernise the facility and also provide a safe and infection control compliant living environment.

Several residents really want to do some work in the garden. The mower with engine can be a bit too overwhelming for them and may be too powerful that might make tiny stones flying. Residents don’t like the manual push mower as they think it doesn’t cut and it is hard to push. Perhaps battery powered would be better. We don’t need long-lasting battery as we can make the activity in multiple times of the day to allow charging and so that residents can have activity all day. Residents can do housework in their little annex areas to wash clothing protectors, towels and small clothes. Good for residents so they are engaged in working while doing a meaningful activity, a lot of ladies in dementia unit love to feel that they are helpful. This will be good exercise activity for residents’ dexterity. We want the activity to take time so they always have something to do.
